The doorway to Christ College, Cambridge University. Darwin transferred here to study for the ministry after dropping out of Edinburgh University where he had intended to study medicine. But after viewing a few operations performed without the benefit of anesthesia, he found he did not have the stomach for it. The best part of his education here at Cambridge was the opportunity to become friends with distinguished professors, like the Revs. John Henslow and Adam Sedgwick, who encouraged his long-time interest in natural history.
