Bio
Photographer Joan Dooley worked as Assistant Curator of Photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum for 12+ years. Since 1996 she's been teaching full-time in various inner-city schools for LAUSD. For four years she taught via a traditional chemically-based lab at Fairfax High's Visual Arts Magnet. For another six years she taught at Bell High in southeast LA where she built a state-of-the-art digital photography and stop-motion animation lab that supported her photo program and a new animation program. Also at Bell, she created an alliance with CalArts CAP co-teaching film and now animation with CalArts faculty in an after-school program that has since moved with her to HS#9.
