 Body Dead to Sin

Eternal Life is Spiritual Life

The doctrine of eternal life is a major theme in the Bible, and a cornerstone of Christian thinking. Certainly most Christians believe they have eternal life because it is promised by the Bible and Jesus Christ the tantamount[1]. Jesus was not talking about a living in a physical body eternally[2]. Even those who hold on to the doctrine of a literal and physical future[3] bodily resurrection[4], must divulge that the body raised at some time must physically die[5].

Conclusion to Part 1

There is only one central theme, framed only by context. The concept of “death” is a good example of a term used with different figurative usages. Only one usage is applicable per central theme.

Part 2

Salvation Is Sealed By Christ and the Resurrection of the Gathered Saints

Romans 13:11-12 projects the absolute[6] fulfillment[7] of[8] Salvation[9] to still[10] be[11] a future[12] event from the time he wrote about it. Though the elect[13] were chosen[14] and predestined[15] before the foundation of the covenantal[16] world[17] the absolute fulfillment[18] of Salvation[19] was complete[20] at the end of the Old Covenant age[21] and the resurrection[22] of the saints[23] into[24] the everlasting Kingdom of Heaven/God[25] and judgment[26] by the Lord’s namesake[27] Jesus Christ[28].

The Second Time without Sin unto Salvation

The context of Hebrews 9:23-28 is about Jesus' sacrifice to put away sin[29] in the end of the Jewish age [notice the word "world" in Hebrews 9:26[30] is used twice to describe two discrete ideas: κόσμος (kosmos), which refers to the ordered material world (phenomenal reality of appearance and illusion[31]); and αἰών (aiōn), which means "age"]. Verses 26 and 28 equates Christ's offering as a sacrifice to bear the sins of the many[32]:{because just "as it is [was] appointed for men once to die"[33]]; resulting in the judgment[34]: Christ’s offering revoked the appointment of death, Christ's "appearing a second time without sin unto salvation unto them that look for him"[35] saves the qualified[36] elect[37] from[38] the wrath[39] of God’s[40] judgment[41]}.

Eschatological Implications

It was compulsory for the Old[42] Jewish conventional age to pass[43] and[44] Christ[45] to return[46] from his Father's house[47] to prepare a place for the Church to meet[48] Him [in the "air"[49], that is, in the spirit[50]; a kingdom not of this world[51]].

At the end of Matthew, for example, Jesus had already physically resurrected from the dead[52]  but still[53] had to come into his Spiritual kingdom [coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory[54] with all the holy angels[55] with him to sit on the throne of glory to gather his elect[56] and divide them from the apostates[57] [58] which is also the end of the Jewish age and tabernacle[59]; the inauguration of the covenantal[60] new age economy prophesied in the Scriptures[61]}

Consummation

Although the witnessed saints[62] living[63] after Jesus Christ's incarnated[64] appearing[65] and before His grand Parousia[66] were justified[67] by His blood[68], saved by grace through faith[69]; but it would not be until after Christ's coming[70] into his kingdom[71] when[72] God would absolutely fulfill His plan[73] and salvation[74]  would be an accomplished[75] reality[76]. The bride[77] was purchased[78] by the dowry[79] of the bridegroom[80], but the bridegroom would first have to go to his Father to make a place for his bride[81] for the Church to meet[82] Him at His coming and consummate the covenant[83]. Jesus was then engaged[84] like a fiancé to the saints, dead and living[85], Jew and gentile[86], but had not yet[87] returned to fulfill the "purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will"[88]: for the children of God are to be not only reconciled[89] with God[90], but united together as one to God through Jesus Christ[91]. "Redemption[92] is through the blood[93] even the forgiveness of sins"[94] but the resurrection is eternal life[95]. The spiritual resurrection[96] has been activated by Jesus' return[97], the “last day”[98] in the first century[99].

On the Gospel

The Gospel of Grace[100] is not only the forgiveness of sins[101] but the inheritance[102] of the saints[103] made[104] righteous by justification through faith[105]. Being forgiven of sins is a prerequisite to union with God[106]. The mercy of God is revealed in His grace[107]; the prerequisite is accomplished solely by God’s sovereign work[108].

Eternal Life is Salvation

“Eternal life”[109] was an expected  future a reward to any [of the saints of the period that the Bible was written] who "overcometh", described in different facets of imagery and symbolism in the Revelation as "the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God"[110]; salvation from "the second death"[111]; "the hidden manna" and a white stone with a new name written in it that no man knoweth except he/she that receives it[112]; "the fountain of the water of life"[113]; etc. Salvation is come in the fulfillment of Revelation 12:10[114].
