The idea behind this project was to create a plan for a ranch style house.  This plan view shows my design for the first floor.  This portion of the project prompted me to think about how to use space efficiently.  My basic idea was to create a larger open space to facilitate the kitchen, dining and living areas where a family would spend most of their time.  One main consideration was to seperate the bedrooms from the more active areas of the house to reduce noise and provide more privacy.  I also wanted to keep the bathrooms and kitchen together to keep all the water usage in the same area of the house.
