This workshop will require students to create a
model of the human figure using the ecorche method. This
method involves building a figure up from the inside out, thereby
necessitating the student to study all aspects of figure
anatomy. The initial layout will begin with the skeleton, add
on both deep and superficial muscle structures, and finish with the
addition of skin, hair, and clothing. Beyond the basic
anatomy, students will also learn how to pose figures in a dramatic
yet realistic manner, and to incorporate the figure into an
environment. Once students have finished with the structure
of the model, the figures will be painted using advanced modeling
techniques. The addition of texture, dry brushing, and washes
will all be necessary.
Content:
This course will introduce sculpture as a medium in which to make realistic human models. Participants will learn basic sculpture skills. Participants will see and develop lesson plans to use in their classroom that will involve these skills. Participants will produce projects that employ the methods, tools, and processes practiced throughout the course.
