In Photography, student choice is the key. While the Technology Education Department embraces the digital revolution, we recognize and respect that students have the right to choose the medium they prefer; whether it be film or digital.

Based on student feedback, the semester is split into thirds. One third of the semester will be devoted entirely to black and white, wet-process film photography. PHSC has nine new enlargers, so students have ample opportunity to develop their own prints.

One third of the semester will be devoted entirely to digital photography. PHSC now has a digital photo lab with 25 computers loaded with Photoshop Elements 4. The lab also has a plotter.

The final third of the semester will be devoted to student choice. Students can choose which medium (film or digital) they prefer, and complete the remaining assignments in that medium.

Please note that students do not have to provide their own camera.  Students with cameras are encouraged to use their own camera.  Digital images from cellular phones are not accepted.
