Welcome to Bell High’s first ever Animation class!
I designed this Experimental Animation class to cover a variety of “stop motion” technniques such as pixilation, claymation, toymation, and paper puppet-mation but lessons will also include traditional methods of animating drawings as well as video/animations combines.
Stop motion (or frame-by-frame) animation is a general term for an animation technique that makes a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The subject is moved by small amounts between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames are played as a continuous sequence
Shout out to my TA, Andrew Okamoto, whose rare talents and
dedication made my vision of this new venture a feasible reality.
Another shout out to Ruben Esqueda, Visting Artist in CalArts CAP
(Community Arts Partnership Program), whose 2-hour after-school pixilation workshop last April, 2008 planted the seed for the creation of this entire program!
